The Medal was founded by a Decree of the Presidium of the National Assembly on 11 July 1968. It was conferred upon high-rank constitutors of the Bulgarian National Army, military men (generals, office.. Смотреть далее »rs, and sergeants) with length of service of at least 10 years, civil officers with length of service of at least 15 years, and foreigners with contribution to the armed forces of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. The Medal is made of light yellow metal having
the form of a circle with diameter of 33 mm.
Against a star-like background on the averse, a red-enamelled five-pointed star is fixed. Within the star is a circular field enamelled in the colours of the national flag, surrounded by a laurel wreath. The circular field bears the effigy of a Bulgarian lion rampant, under-neath the lion - two crossed swords pointing pwards.
Underlying the laurel wreath is a band bearing a small-lettered inscription: "25 г. БНА". The reverse contains a five-lined convex inscription, signifying: "25 години БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА АРМИЯ" with oak branches around, surmounted by crossed sickle and hammer, with underlying inscription: "1944 - 1969".
The Medal was worn on the left breast, fixed to a pentagon bearer dressed in white ribbon with a red stripe in the middle, bordered in green on both sides.
Author of the design is Raycho Peev. The medal was mint at the State Mint, Sofia. The Medal was cancelled in 1991.
