As depicted, the design breached New Zealand safety guidelines and was re-drawn without the teddy bear and re-issued. All the original versions should have been withdrawn from post office stocks before the release date but examples were sold from at least two New Zealand Post outlets at Royal Oak (Auckland) and Te Ngae (Rotorua) and used for postal purposes.
