Velez (Santander)

Issued to celebrate the 450th Anniversary of the founding of the city of Velez.

Vélez is the capital of the province of Santander of the same name, located approximately 200 km from the cit.. Смотреть далее »y of Bogotá, Colombia. It is famous for its cathedral, for making candies made with guava pulp and for the Cave of the Indians, that was refuge of the indigenous Agata, to protect themselves from the attacks of the Spaniards. It is historical patrimony , since inside we can find: Underground waterfalls, a room of stalagmites, stalactites and the fossil of what was the mummy of the chief Agata.
It was one of the first territories in the world and the first in Latin America to give women the right to vote, in 1853.
